Be an Advocate

APTA and the Chapter relies on its network of dedicated grassroots activists to bring physical therapy issues to the attention of Members of Congress and other policy makers.

This is a critical time for you to use your voice as we enter into health care reform. Physical therapists can provide valuable contributions to the transformation of the health care delivery system by improving health care quality and outcomes through the prevention, treatment, and management of impairments and health care needs of patients.

APTA and the Chapter's goal in reform is to ensure that the health care system is affordable, results in high-quality care, and eliminates unnecessarylegal and regulatory barriers that limit access to services—providing patients with access to high quality care provided by physical therapists. APTA and the Chapter encourages our members and their patients to get involved in the debate.

There are a multitude of avenues you can take to get your voice heard. You can write, call, or fax your Congressman or Senator using our Legislative Action Center. You can encourage your patients to do the same by having them visit the Patient Action Center. You can also attend a White House Regional Summit or take part in a town hall meeting with your member of Congress.
