Continuing Education Program: An Update on the APTA Guide to Physical Therapy Practice Revisions
Course Description: The Guide to Physical Therapist Practice revision is underway. Two additional Practice Patterns have been developed by an expert member group. The patterns are Peripheral Arterial Disease and Chronic Venous Disease. The patterns will be sent out for review in April.
The first three chapters of the Guide have been revised to include the ICF framework and language. This will be sent to reviewers for modifications in April. A request for comments on chapters 2 and 3 of the Guide was recently sent to Chapter and Section Presidents.
Plans are in the works to migrate the current Guide to APTA’s website. ICF and other changes will not be made with this migration. Some revisions, including the ICF changes and the two new practice patterns, will tentatively occur in the early fall.
