Student Conclave
2010 APTA of Maryland Student Conclave and Fall Annual Conference
Saturday, October 16, 2010, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Carroll County Community College – Westminster, Maryland
This year’s Student Conclave was developed by the Chapter Student Committee. The program will be one-hour so that students can enroll in the fall annual conference continuing education tracks which will run from 11:00-4:30 pm.
The conclave will include an inspirational presentation by a Maryland physical therapist, Leah Fleischer, including a special viewing of her academy nominated documentary, Two Hands: The Leon Fleisher Story. This award-winning documentary reveals the fascinating, more than thirty-year story of a child prodigy whose career as a pianist was cut short by the sudden onslaught of a mysterious physical disability. The film also depicts Leon Fleisher's amazing response and ultimate victory over the hands of fate. Leah Fleisher, his daughter and a physical therapist, tries to make sure that other musicians careers are not cut short by treating injured musicians.
